Ministers’ Conference President, Dr. William H. Curtis, serving his second year of a four year term as president of the Conference, announced the theme for this year’s conference as,” A Discussion of Hermeneutics.” The conference will focus on the various and diverse ways in which pastors and ministers approach the awesome task of gospel proclamation. Providing peerless insight on this theme will be Dr. James Forbes, headlining the Dr. A.C.D. Vaughn Sr. Statesman’s Hour.

The 94th Annual Hampton University Ministers’ Conference and 74th Annual Choir Directors’ Organists’ Guild Workshop will be held June 1-6, 2008, on the beautiful campus of Hampton University. Once again, HU will host a variety of exceptional ministers.

This year’s keynote Conference Preacher will be Bishop Charles Blake, senior pastor of West Angeles C.O.G.I.C., Los Angeles, CA. Other nationally acclaimed speakers for the conference include: Rev. Gina Stewart, pastor of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Memphis, TN; Rev. Joel Gregory, Professor of Preaching at Truett Seminary and founder/president of Gregory Ministries; Dr. Katie Cannon, Professor of Theology at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Richmond, VA; Dr. Robert Franklin, president of Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA: and Rev. Jason Barr, senior pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, PA.

Additional exciting presenters include the annual focus group panel discussing the unique challenges facing Women in Ministry, including Pastor Elaine Flake of the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral, Jamaica, NY; Apostle Lee Watson, co-pastor of Trinity City of Praise, Nassau, Bahamas; Pastor Claudette Basden, senior pastor of A Touch of Love Ministries International Center, Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands; and Minister Kim Alexander of University Park Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. The Women in Ministry panel will be co-moderated this year by Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook, former president of the Hampton University Ministers’ Conference and by Rev. Lucille Hill, senior pastor of Peoples United Methodist Church, Long Island City, NY.
